The Monsoon Wind Power Plant is an investment project by Impact Energy Asia Development Limited (IEAD), with PowerChina (China Power Construction Group) as the general contractor. The project has a capacity of 600 MW and an investment of approximately $1 billion, located in Sekong and Attapeu Province, Laos. The Monsoon Wind Power Plant is designed to connect to Vietnam’s power system via the 500kV Monsoon – Thanh My transmission line, with a total length of 71.76 km (of which approximately 43 km is within Vietnam’s territory).
The Monsoon Wind Power Plant project is part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Vietnam and Laos, aiming to import renewable energy from Laos to Vietnam. Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 – Power Plant Operation and Maintenance Branch (POM) commits to ensuring the stable and continuous operation of the 500kV and 115kV substations of the Monsoon Wind Power Plant, in compliance with the regulations of both Laos and Vietnam. Furthermore, it offers optimal solutions to help the investor manage the operation of wind turbines, minimizing losses due to maintenance downtime and turbine failure rectification.
